1966 Bakewell Station and the Footbridge

A Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) pulls into the station in the penultimate year of passenger operations. There was a fine looking footbridge just in front of Station Rd Bridge until the line closed. One wonders if it was re-purposed or… more likely just scrapped? The extra flight of steps seen on the left, was a shortcut to (upper) Station Rd.. (and the Station Master’s house ;) )

There’s now a big tree covered mound up against the bridge… it would be nice if some of “the tip” could be cleared and so the view of this fine bridge would be much improved.

A view of part of the encroaching “Tip” from under the bridge looking north. At this point the tip appears to be composed of aggregates..
